The Last Summer Day Camp of 2014!!

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GET SOME MAT TIME IN THE MONTH OF JULY WE ONLY HAVE ONE CAMP LEFT.  

PLEASE PRE-REGISTER FOR THE 5-DAY CAMP JULY 14-18TH.  ALSO, FYI, WE ACCEPT WALK-UPS THE DAY OF BETWEEN 8-9AM. ALSO, YOU CAN PARTICIPATE BY BY THE DAY AT DAILY RATE OF $25.

Sunkist Kids Wrestling Camps hosted by Blue Ridge High School

The Sunkist Kids Wrestling Academy will stay in session June & July 2014!
We are proud to partner with Blue Ridge High School in our Team Camp, Day Camp & High Intensity  Camp in Lakeside, AZ! Come join us this summer and continue your path to success!

Day Camps

June 9-13 $125 Blue Ridge High School (Lakeside, AZ)
9am-4pm. Ages 6-14 (Jr. High). Commuter Camps. Slow-paced, beginner to Intermediate skill levels. Teaches wrestling technique and conditioning. Covers all aspects of the sport of wrestling...nutrition, wrestling technique & the mental game. (Add lunch for $5/day)

High School Team Camp

June 7-14 $270 Resident & $ 150 Commuter Blue Ridge High School (Lakeside, AZ)

Resident rate includes meals, lodging in Gym or camp site on school campus, technique sessions & supervision (Commuters can add Meals for $15/ day). The Team Camp will combine activities involving team building, developing leadership and team camaraderie throughout the week. The 7-day camp will include 30+ hours of technique and training during the sessions along 25-30 matches throughout the week. Intermediate to Advanced level technique will be shown. During the course of the camp stance we will cover -stance/motion, set-ups, tie-ups, takedowns, mat wrestling on top (riding, pining combinations and legs), mat wrestling on bottom (escapes, reversals, short sit/long sit series and granby series), chain wrestling, mat strategy and goal setting. All this is important while building a State Championship Team. On the last day of camp all the participants will compete in a tournament.


High Intensity Training Camp

June 7-14 Arizona Residents & Registered for Kids/Cadet Regionals = $200 Resident & $ 100 Commuter OR Non-AZ Residents = $ 270 Resident & $150 Commuter Blue Ridge High School (Lakeside, AZ)
Resident rate includes meals, lodging in Gym or camp site on school campus, technique sessions & supervision (Commuters can add Meals for $15/ day). The High Altitude Training Camp will challenge the participants wrestling skills and conditioning while preparing for the Kids/Cadet Regionals and Kids Nationals in June 2014. This camp is high intensity and rigorous and it will combine advanced skill sets/concepts and winning techniques that create champions. This camp will cover in depth mat strategies that will help athletes learn how to adapt during a match. It is essential that athletes have the mental ability and technical skills to know when to score and counter attack during competition. Situational wrestling and mat management is an integral part of this training camp. Not to mention, your conditioning will be tested at 9,000 feet when we hike/run Sunrise Mountain. On the last day of camp all the participants will compete in a tournament.


Folkstyle Tournaments

Fridays June 6th, July 11th & July 18th $15 non-camp participant or No-Charge for Camp Participants June 14th Blue Ridge High School (Lakeside, AZ)

Summer camps are rapidly approaching us.

 

 It is time to preregister for summer camps. The Sunkist Kids Wrestling Academy will stay in session June & July 2014! Programs include 5-day Technique Commuter Camps and Folk style  Tournaments! Academy

June 2 -July 11,2014 $125 or $25/week ASU Riches Wrestling Complex (Tempe, AZ)
Preparation for Fargo and Kids/Cadets Regionals or to stay in wrestling shape! Practice  Monday- Friday at designated times, TBD.

USA Wrestling’s point system for team scoring; Each club/team picks 20 point scorers from their team before the tournament starts for Bantam/Intermediate. Points are awarded based on each wrestlers place in the tournament: 1st place - 6 team points, 2nd 5pts, 3rd 4pts, 4th 3pts, 5th 2 pts, 6th 1pt

TRIPLE CROWN TRIPLE CROWN: Wrestlers winning all three Arizona USA State Championships (Folkstyle, Freestyle, Greco-Roman) receive an Arizona USA Wresting Triple Crown Award. Excludes: Bantam division wrestlers (pre-Greco).

2014 Arizona USA Wrestling Folkstyle State Championships and OPEN ROOM Night

We are excited to announce the 2014 Arizona USA Wrestling Folkstyle State Championships are being held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Casa Grande High School in Casa Grande, Arizona.

This year, Sunkist Kids Wrestling Academy is offering an OPEN ROOM night on Wednesdays from 6-8:30pm the entire month of February 2014.  All athletes must have a valid USA Wrestling Card to participate and it is FREE.  You can come in and get as many matches as you want and work out. 


We are encouraging everyone to PRE-REGISTER for the event.  Registration is now open on Trackwrestling.  All the age divisions and weight classes, along with D.O.B. cut-offs are on www.trackwrestling.com.  Click here to pre-register now at :


Please note – we are splitting the start times for Bantam/Intermediate and Novice/Middle school, so the tournament does not have the issues and delays it had last year.  We look forward to having a safe and successful competition.  If you have any questions feel free to contact me at the number below.

Meet and Greet with ASU Wrestlers!


This Saturday, ASU Wrestling is doing a meet and greet and autographic signing with all of the Arizona USA club members that attend following the dual.  They are offering to set up another $3 ticket event to honor our AZ wrestling clubs who support us by attending the Iowa State match…so by bringing your ticket from the Iowa State match to the Stanford match you will receive $3 admission to that event, as wellWe are encouraging all the parents and academy members to support these duals
